Project Overview
At AP Tile and Bathrooms, we specialize in creating floors that are not only functional but also integral parts of a home’s design. This case study focuses on the installation of a light-coloured engineered wood floor in a herringbone pattern, covering approximately twenty-five square meters, which seamlessly transitions into the outdoor living space.
Challenge
Our challenge was to install a visually stunning herringbone pattern that not only complements the interior design but also aligns perfectly with the outdoor herringbone brick patio, enhancing the continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces.
Solution
The project commenced with the removal of all skirting boards to ensure clean edges. We prepared the subfloor meticulously to ensure it was perfectly flat, critical for the longevity and aesthetics of the herringbone pattern. The underlay selected had insulating properties, boosting the floor’s comfort and energy efficiency.
The skirting boards installed were primed but not finished, as the room was still awaiting final decoration. This detail is visible in the case study images, showcasing the floor in its completed state, ready to complement the future decor.
Transitioning to the exterior, the continuity between the engineered wood flooring and the herringbone brick patio outside creates a seamless flow, visually connecting the indoor and outdoor environments. This thoughtful design choice enhances the overall aesthetic and functional coherence of the living spaces.
